D-Jax Signs with the ‘Skins

Former Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson signed a 3 year, $24M contract with the Redskins after being released by the Eagles for a rumor of off the field incidents. Great deal for the Redskins, Jackson will help emerging young star Robert Griffin III with his deep throws a ton. Jackson had 7 TD’s of 15+  yards last season. He is also a weapon in the trick game option when he can run on a handoff for a TD. he will compete with the ‘Skins other #1 receiver Pierre Garçon for most of the catches. Jackson will also play his former team, the Eagles twice a year.  New HC Jay Gruden has some serious work to do… The Mets and Yankees are now both 0-2 after losses last night.  The Yankees should be more concerned losing to in my opinion, the worst team in the league, the Astros. Pitcher C.C Sabathia had 6 ER in his 1st start on tuesday and Hiroki Kuroda lost it last night. Bad start for a team with very high expectations and in a tough division. The Mets on the other hand are playing the division favorites and the best team in the league by some people: the Nationals. Losing on Monday was a sure win lost for the Mets and last night was a very disappointing game with new pitcher Bartolo Colon letting up 3 runs and 1 HR to...

“PLAY BALL!”

“PLAY BALL’!”  Finally its here! Opening day. Some great games were played today and here is a quick recap on all the games played… Mets 7 – Nationals 9:  The Mets jusssst couldn’t hold their lead through the 9th and 10th and lost to the rival Nats 9-7. Mets pitcher Dillon Gee made his 1st career Opening Day start in the majors in this game. He pitched 6 innings and let up 4 runs and struck out 5 in his pretty good outing. New Mets relief pitcher Jose Valverde was the only bright spot for the Mets bullpen yesterday with 3 K’s over the course of 1 inning.  Nats ace Stephen Strausburg struck out 10 Mets in his 6 inning outing but let up 4 runs in his ND. The Mets got a quick 3 run homer from LF Andrew Brown in the 1st inning too lead 3 zip. Nats 1B Adam LaRoche homered and brought in  SS Ian Desmond to trail NY by 1. The Mets kept piling up the runs with Eric Young Jr. hitting a sac fly and scoring catcher Travis d’Arnaud. The Nationals tied the game up in the 7th with Anthony Rendon doubling and scoring Ian Desmond. Then Denard Span was walked with the bases juiced and the Nats tied it at 4.  The Mets had the win in their hands when OF Juan Lagares  hit a...

Too Painful

Yesterday I learned listening to a Final 4 game on the radio in the last seconds of your favorite team’s game (especially when their tied or losing) is a PAINFUL and bad idea.  Oh yeah, I forgot.  When your team Loses! Its even more painful… Here are the 2 recaps of last night’s Elite 8 games… Michigan vs. Kentucky: What a game. Michigan was shooting the jumper really well in this game as always because that’s their strength. Rebounding and crashing the boards is disappointing for this BIG BLUE squad. Kentucky did just that and BIG MAN Julius Randle had 16 points and 11 boards to push UK to the win.  Here are my 2 reasons why UMich lost: 1-rebounds, with Julius Randle crashing the boards the whole game, Michigan couldn’t find a big man to guard him. 2- Bench production was scarce in the loss with Spike Albrecht scoring 0 for 1 and the whole bench getting 11 points in all.  Kentucky on the other side was great with strong games by Andrew Harrison with 8 points, 6 dimes and 3 boards, James Young with 13 points, Julius Randle with 16 points and 11 boards, Aaron Harrison with 12 points and Dakari Johnson with 8 points. Off the bench, Marcus Lee scored 10 and grabbed 8 boards and the 3 players on the bench combined for 18 points.  The game came down to a 72-72 tie and Aaron Harrison hitting the...

Down to North Texas!

The final Four is on! 2 teams have clinched final 4 spots so far and the 2 games today will determine the other 2. I am rooting for my BIG BLUE and hoping they can pull out a win tonight.  Here are the sums of last nights match ups… #1 Florida vs. #11 Dayton Flyers…  An expected ending for a young and talented Dayton team came to real-life yesterday when the Flyers lost to #1 Florida 62-52. Dayton had a Cinderella run this year after being seeding at #11 and beating #6 Ohio State in the 1st round to mess up ALL the brackets (including mine), then beat #3 Syracuse in a very close game and then beating #10 Stanford in the Sweet 16. On the other side, my bet to play vs UMich in the finals is #1 Florida. Florida has been routing all of their opponents with 12 (Albany), 16 (Pittsburgh), 11 (UCLA) and 10 (Dayton) point wins in the tourney. UF has a very talented team only losing 2 games this year and being the victors for 36 of them. Led by Scottie Wilbekin‘s 23 points and Dorian Finney-Smith‘s 9 boards, UF got the much needed win vs. Dayton.  UD’s top player Dyshawn Pierre had 18 points and 5 assists in the tough loss. UF will play the winner of Michigan st. vs. UConn in the final four. With many young stars coming back, Dayton can...

George leads Indy to big win

Pacers vs. Heat- Game 3: What a game. These 2 teams always make an epic battle post-season or not. The Pacers and Heat were tied at 1 in the regular season series with a home win for each team. The Pacers were slumping at #1 in the East standings but played great in this game because of the stakes… Miami came back from a 6 pt deficit in the 1st Q to lead by 1 at half. The score was 45-44 at half. With Miami up by 5 going into the 4th, Indy needed to make a push and thats wheat they did.  The got back and won by 1 holding Miami to 15 in the last Q.  Paul George and Roy Hibbert combined for44 points in the win and Heat’s LeBron Jams had 38|8|5 points, rebounds, assists, line in the loss.  Look for Indy to finish strong and on a roll and win the East over sout beach....
