Teagarden Shows Power in Mets Debut

Taylor Teagarden was called up to the Mets on Sunday from Triple-A Las Vegas for Catcher Travis d’Arnaud. In his Mets, MLB debut, he 1-4 with a Grand-Slam in a 6-2 win to stop a huge losing skid. Daniel Murphy also homered in the win.  Daisuke Matsuzaka is pitching very well now starting for the Mets. He won his 3rd game last night striking 5 and only letting up 3 hits and a run. He is 3-0 on the season with a 2.95 ERA. Very good considering the Mets pitching problems this whole season. Vic Black, Jeurys Famillia and Jenrry Mejia have been pretty consistent in the pen for the Mets lately. Good signs for the Mets, they are currently in a “anyone can take” division only back 5.5 games to the Braves and Nats who are tied for 1st. the mets are also 5 games back from the Marlins who are .5 game out of...

Rice Blows Another Lead For NYM

You tell me what happened, the Mets lost AGAIN on another BLOWN LEAD! The Mets were up 1-0 going into the bottom of the 8th.  But they let up 1 run in that inning and a walk-off in the 9th. Final Score- Mets 1 | Cubs 2 The Mets now have a 28-30 record after the loss. My goal for them is not 90 wins, but to stay consistent and finish over .500%. That can be done by hitting which the Mets have really improved on, Starting Pitching which is getting good and relief pitching. The Mets are really running out of options, most games they play are close so that when those relief pitchers step in. They are really important to this team because of the many close games. Tonight the Mets will face off vs. the Cubs with Dice-K on the hill for the Mets and Edwin Jackson for the...

Mets Win BIG Behind Flores Grand Slam

The Mets kept piling on runs last night against the Phillies.  In fact, they were up 5-2 going into the 9th and scored 6 to win 11-2! The Mets have witnessed a serious power surge vs. Philly winning a bunch of games. They are now in 2nd place with a 28-29 record, 2.5 games back from the Atlanta Braves. Despite all the wins in the series, the Mets witnessed another injury to Juan Lagares who is now on the 15 day DL. Lagares was hitting great as always but it was very unfortunate for the Mets. The Mets had runs scored by Matt den Dekker (who robbed a Ryan Howard HR and threw a guy out at home), Curtis Granderson, Eric Campbell, Wilmer Flores, Chris Young, Dan Murphy (2), David Wright (2) and Bobby Abreu (2).  The Mets hitter also had some big games with David Wright going 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, Grandy going 1-5 with 2 RBI’s and last but DEFINITELY not least, the player of the game, Wilmer Flores who went 2-5 with 6 RBI”s on a Grand Slam in the 9th and a 2 run double! and he batted 7th!  Bartolo Colon had another good game going 7 strong innings, striking out 5 and only letting up 2 ER. Good signs all around for the...

Mets Drop 2 Guys After Disappointing Loss

After a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Pirates yesterday. The Mets fired hitting coach Dave Hudgens after the game after some really poor hitting this season and the past 3 with him. The Mets also announced the release of Veteran closer Jose Valverde after posting a 5.66 ERA this season with a 1-1 record. Look at this now. This all started when Bobby Parnell hurt himself and was ruled out for the season on opening day, that sent the Mets in panic mode for relief pitching. That came to 2 releases of veteran relievers who struggled mightily and call-ups of starters in the minors to move starters to the pen! Hitting must improve for NYM with a team .237 Batting Average with 186 RBI’s and 407 hits. They only got 195 runs and 123 extra base-hits.  That led to the firing of Hudgens, Lamar Johnson will fill in for him. To add to the news, Mets young star, minor league pitcher, Noah Synderguard is getting his arm checked in NY today to check for a possible injury. Tonight, Jon Niese is on the hill for the Mets while Edinson Volquez is pitching for the Pirates… Also in the MLB, after Josh Beckett’s no-no on Sunday, Hyun-Jin Ryu almost got one of his own going perfect for 7.1 innings with 7 K’s. He collapsed in the 8th with a total...

deGrom Can’t Get it Done in Loss

Jacob deGrom made his 2nd Major League start yesterday for the Mets. He took a loss in his 1st game against the Bronx Bombers despite only letting up 1 run. In this game against the Dodgers, he got a little roughed up going 6 innings, striking out 4 batters and letting up 3 homers (all solo) and taking the loss. This is a start to learn from for deGrom. deGrom’s pitching has been great so far despite 2 pitching losses.  The game came down to 1 play, with 1 out in the 8th inning, the Mets walked Yasiel Puig to put runners on the corners setting up a double play. Hanley Ramirez was up for LA, he bounced one to the pitcher, Jeurys Familia, Familia turned around to throw to 2nd base but 2 Mets covered 2nd and Familia hesitated to throw, once he threw into the confusion, runners were safe at home and 1st! A disappointing mental error charged the Mets from getting the win. A 9th inning rally couldn’t do anything when David Wright surprisingly struck out to end a great hitting day. The Final score- Mets 3     Dodgers 4 On a personal note, congrats to our southern friend Alan on the 2 wins by the Dodgers… ROLL TIDE The Spurs dominated the Thunder last night winning 112-77 and completely shutting down the Thunder’s offensive...
