No Toppin’ Tanaka!

The Yankees signed pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to a 7 year, $155 M contract after going 24-0 with the Ratuken Golden Eagles of Japan. Tanaka has been MONEY this year! After shutting out the Mets and completing a game for the 1st time in his MLB career, he is 6-0! The Mets put out rookie Rafael Montero for his 1st career start last night. Montero pitched well but was charged with the loss in the Mets 4-0 loss. The momentum went from the Mets to the Yankees after switching from a hitter to pitcher friendly field. Yangervis Solarte and Mark Teixeira had solo-homers in the win. Tonight, Jacob DeGrom will make his 1st start in a NYM uniform while the Yankees put out Chase Whitley also making his 1st career start. This is Derek  Jeter’s last and 93rd Subway Series game, the Mets are set to give the Captain a gift tonight. The Spurs (West) and Heat (East) clinched their Conference finals last night after 2 big wins. Yes, it is still possible for a NBA Finals rematch from last year… The Rangers have found their opponent in the Montreal Canadiens for the Eastern Conference finals after Montreal beat the Bruins in Boston. 4 wins to the Cup! LETS GO...

Mets Win Slugfest #2

The Mets had another terrific night hitting vs. the Yankees scoring a season high 12 runs in a 12-7 win.  This is now 6 straight for the Mets vs. NYY and they are en-fuego right now. If they play like this in every game, they could be an elite team. The Mets had some great performances, Eric Young Jr. scored 3 runs despite 0 hits on the night. Daniel Murphy went 1-3 with 2 runs, 3 run homer and another RBI to make it 4. David Wright went 3-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI’s. Curtis Granderson is rocking against his former team in this series. Last night he went 2-3 with a 3 run bomb with 2 runs and walks. Juan Lagares went 1-4 with 1 hit, RBI, and run. Lucas Duda went 2-4 with a RBI and Ruben Tejada went 2-4 with 2runs and a RBI. It’s nice to see the Mets have a total of 6 players drive in a run last night. Zach Wheeler pitched well going 4.1 innings and pitching a career high in pitches. He let up 5 runs and got 2 K’s. Wheeler’s improvement is coming. Daisuke Matsuzaka finally got his 1st relief win of the season, he struck out 4 batters and only let up 1 run.  Vidal Nuno took the loss for the Yankees giving up 7 runs (5 earned)...

Mets Win 5th Straight vs. NYY

Mets 9 – Yankees 7… The Mets took game 1 of the Subway Series after 2 great comebacks and awesome hitting. If the Mets are gonna keep this up, they need to do what they did last night. Only 2 of the Mets 9 runs came on a hit other than a HR. The Mets hit 4 homers vs. the Yankees last night.  Bartolo Colon pitched like himself last night with another 6 run outing but struck out 4 and walked 0. Colon’s tires and 18 win season with the A’s last year is certainly in the books but he should find a way to improve a 2-5 record. The Mets hitting went well with 14 hits. David Wright went 1-5  with a RBI groundout in the 1st inning and a run.  Eric Young Jr. had a 2 run blast, 2 runs and 3 hits in the win. Curtis Granderson went 2-5 with a 2 run homer against his former team. Lucas Duda and Travis d’Arnaud solo homered and d’Arnaud added a 2nd run. Lastly, Chris Young had a big night going 2-4 with a go- ahead 2 run blast.  For NYY, Brett Gardner went 2-5 with a Grand Salami in the 2nd. Derek Jeter went 3-4 in the loss. Yangervis Solarte had a big night going 3-4 with 2 runs and a RBI. Marcus Thornton was charged with...

“All Aboard”! BLOWOUT CENTRAL!

The NBA  round 2 playoffs started yesterday with 2 blowouts.   Despite blowout day 1, I think these series can be extremely close. Here are the scores from yesterday…   Nets     86             Deron Williams- 17 points, 3 rebounds and assists Heat    107           LeBron James- 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists   Spurs  116           Tony Parker- 33 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds Blazers 92           LaMarcus Aldridge- 32 points, 14 rebounds And I thought these games (above) were going to be to the end! I really like the Nets vs. Heat series, it reminds me of a Boston vs. Miami game last year (but Boston just got better)…  In the end, Miami has THE Big 3 and is potentially splitting up, so they will and can win this series but not without some major road-blocks. The Blazers vs. Spurs series should be good but Portland doesn’t have enough good players to defeat San Antonio’s stars, and the fact that Portland is a young team with a potential. I have Spurs in 6… The NFL Draft is tomorrow!!!!!!!   I am soooooooooooo excited!!!!! Hopefully my Jets will make a good move, maybe going with Odell Beckham jr. to boost their speedy offense.  The Jets are building a fast,...

Ready, Set, Round 2!

Round 2 in the NBA playoffs will begin soon after the 5 Game 7’s played in Rd 1 which is a whole playoff record! Yup, I mean the WHOLE playoffs already after rd 1!  Here are yesterday’s scores… Nets 104             Joe Johnson- 26 points, 4 rebounds and assists Raptors 103      Kyle Lowry- 28 points, 7 rebounds   Spurs 119           Tony Parker- 32 points, 4 rebounds and assists Mavs 96              Dirk Nowitzki- 22 ponts, 9 assists NBA Rd 1 in review: Wow, this may be the MOST EXCITING playoffs ever in NBA history! Only 1 sweep occurred when the Heat beat the Bobcats 4-0. The #5 Blazers defeated the strong #4 Rockets in 6 games and the #5 Wizards beat the #4 Bulls in 5 games. Otherwise, 5 Game 7’s were played but the favorite won most of them. There were 2, 1 v.8 games (Spurs vs. Mavs,  Pacers vs. Hawks) but the 1 seed came out on top in both. The Nets beat the Raptors when Paul Pierce got a block on a lay-up at the buzzer to win. The Nets who didn’t lose to the Heat this year will play them in Rd 2. The Thunder were close to losing to the Grizz but came back from KD’s amazing...
