The NBA  round 2 playoffs started yesterday with 2 blowouts.   Despite blowout day 1, I think these series can be extremely close. Here are the scores from yesterday…

Nets     86             Deron Williams- 17 points, 3 rebounds and assists

Heat    107           LeBron James- 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists

Spurs  116           Tony Parker- 33 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds

Blazers 92           LaMarcus Aldridge- 32 points, 14 rebounds

And I thought these games (above) were going to be to the end! I really like the Nets vs. Heat series, it reminds me of a Boston vs. Miami game last year (but Boston just got better)…  In the end, Miami has THE Big 3 and is potentially splitting up, so they will and can win this series but not without some major road-blocks. The Blazers vs. Spurs series should be good but Portland doesn’t have enough good players to defeat San Antonio’s stars, and the fact that Portland is a young team with a potential. I have Spurs in 6…

The NFL Draft is tomorrow!!!!!!!   I am soooooooooooo excited!!!!! Hopefully my Jets will make a good move, maybe going with Odell Beckham jr. to boost their speedy offense.  The Jets are building a fast, fun offense now and it could definitely turn into something. With running QB Geno Smith getting mentored by one of the most mobile QB’s of all time Michael Vick, or Vick starting would make a QB run game. The Jets added receiver Eric Decker to catch them deep and be strong. They have 2 fast receivers in Jeremy Kerley and Jacoby Ford. They also have WR Stephen Hill to develop. Adding a fast and strong receiver like Odell Beckham jr. and Brandin Cooks in the draft would boost their O. They also have speedy Chris Johnson at RB for them and Chris Ivory and Billal Powell for the short and strong game.  On D, the Jets are in need of DB’s. Their backs are young and unproven yet so drafting a good rookie in Rd. 2 or 3 would be a good fit. Here re NYJ’s top 5 needs…

1- Wide Receiver

2- Corner and Defensive Backs

3-  Offensive Linemen

4- Tight End

5- Defensive Linemen

Mets Recap-

The Mets record moved down to 16-16 (4th place in the NL East) after their 2nd straight loss to the Marlins in Miami.  Daisuke Matsuzaka let up 3 runs with the Mets up 3-0 in the 8th and Scott Rice let up the GW run on Monday. The Mets bullpen is struggling and help is needed. Last night Bartolo Colon took his 5th loss of the season losing 3-0.  The Mets hitting has been doing good, Curtis Granderson is getting into a good hitting groove. Juan Lagares is hitting .333 and Daniel Murphy has a .318 average. Despite only 1 homer, Davis Wrght has 17 RBI’s and 15 runs for NY.  The Mets have 2 problems, #1 – keeping leads which leads to the bullpen problem not getting it done.  The Mets are now 2 games out of 1st to the Braves, if they can start winning, a now tight NL East, 1st place will open for the Mets. Today Zach Wheeler will try to improve his 5.13 ERA against Tom Koehler and the Marlins…
