Mets are on a Roll!

13 years ago today, the most heart breaking terrorist attack in US history took place at the Twin Towers in NYC . Many people died in the attack and the whole world was saddened. Today we remember the heroes and people who passed away in this tragedy…   I’m sure you’ve heard enough Ray Rice in sports news lately so lets get on to something else like the fact that that the Mets have won 7 of their past 8 games and they just swept the Rockies! Here’s a recap on the game: The Mets may have only won 2-0, but this puts them at a 71-75 record which means the Mets actually have a chance at breaking the .500 barrier! Yes, that is a Mets accomplishment unlike your favorite team. And remember, those Bronx Bombers are only 74-69. In the 2nd inning, Dilson Herrera was driven in on a Eric Young jr. triple. Then in the 7th, Juan Lagares drove in Herrera one more with a sac-fly. Rafael Montero got his 1st win this season (now 1-3) pitching 5.1 strong, shutout innings with 7 K’s and only 3 hits allowed. Jenrry Mejia snagged another save to put his total to 25 on the season.  Tonight the Mets face the Nats at 7:10…  ...

South Korea Wins LLWS

The Chicago, Illinois, Jackie Robinson Little League team was defeated in the finals of the LLWS by South Korea 8-4 to stop their magical run. This was a great LLWS to watch! Even though I was in camp for the beginning, I caught on quick enough to see and know Mo’ne Davis, the 1st female to throw a complete game – shutout ever! Also seeing Chicago closer/ SP : Marquis Jackson throw crazy numbers like no runs allowed till he played Philly in the semi’s and again, throwing pure heat… Football- Rams QB, Sam Bradford re-injured his left ACL in yesterday’s preseason game and is out for the season. 13 year vet, Shaun Hill will start but St.Louis may be looking for future options. Bradford tore the ACL last season and sat out for the final 9 games.  Bradford was going to be a mid-level QB2 in fantasy because of a lack of a receiving core. Don’t take a chance on Hill if you were previously owning Bradford or just want to draft him because he can be out very soon to a new guy. Hill is 13-13 in his 13 year career… The Minnesota Vikings have announced QB, Matt Cassel will start over 32’nd pick of this year’s draft, Teddy Bridgewater. Cassel, a former Chief in their bad years, came to Minneapolis this past season. He is a...

Mo’ne Madess is Over

Star Little League pitcher Mo’ne Davis has been knocked out with her Philadelphia team after losing to Chicago, Illinois 6-5 in a great comeback by Philly but just not enough. This puts Chicago in a finals rematch against the power house Las Vegas team who has out scored opponents by over 25 runs!  I can see Vegas winning this finals rematch to advance to the LLWS title game vs. the winner of the international final. A magical run for Mo’ne Davis has been stopped but she will always be remembered for the mark she put on this LLWS at a social media stand point which included getting on the cover of the real sports illustrated (I have it) and getting LLWS tv rates reallllly high! She became the 1st female to ever pitch a complete game shutout ever in this tourney’s history! That’s Mo’ne’s journey… Also in sports, LA Angels ace, Garrett Richards was placed on the DL for 6-9 months. This is a big loss for these streaking Angels who have been killing it lately. But still they are projected to play in the playoffs… Former Rays ace David Price had a very interesting game pitching against his former team in Tampa last night. Price threw a 1 hit complete game and still lost on a 1st Inning 1 RBI triple. The Tigers were shut down by Alex...

I’m Back!

My summer sabbatical is over and I am back to blogging! I had a terrific summer at Camp this year! I loved all my friends and the fact I got to play sports all day, every day. I may have not had my eyes glued to a device all summer, but I’ve stayed tuned in the sports world with the help of my counselors and a big shout out for Mark Carberry who was Mr.Sports in the morning and kept our whole boys side tuned in on everything we missed from baseball scores, to the basketball off-season, to social media and lastly, but most memorably, his Bo-Sox who currently sit in last by 14.5 gms ;( . As he always said: “Get the rye, get the mustard, because today’s gonna’ be a grannnd Salami of a day!” And before you know it, you’re counting down to summer 2015. Now here I am, blogging again… Yesterday the Mets lost 2-1 to the Cubbies after beating them twice in a row. In Queens, that’s good baseball 🙂 .After a Grandy RBI, the Mets kept it tied 1 all going into the 9th and you could guess what happened. Classic Met letdown on a Starlin Castro HR in he top of the 9th.  This puts NYM at a 59-66 record, 7 below 500. And before the season we were talking about 90...

FEED THAT MAN!

The Uruguay national team may have beat Italy 1-0 in an exciting game but this game was full of controversy… Uruguay star Luis Suarez was caught yet again for biting an opponent. Usually players have problems like hitting or injuries, but Suarez bites? This is the 3rd incident of the star player biting opponents when he but an opponent on Ajax in a fight and in Liverpool when he bit a player on Chelsea.  He received lengthy suspensions/fines for those incidents. Now he may cost Uruguay the World Cup by sitting for the whole tourney.   For yesterday’s bite, Suarez was not penalized, but Fifa knows what they need to do thats best which is suspend him.  Suarez and the Uruguay coach had comments on the bite that just made this mess worse by trying to defend themselves. This investigation is ongoing, crazy, and yes, it is spreading ALL OVER social media… World Cup update- Greece 2 – Ivory Coast 1 : Greeks advance on GW penalty kick in box… Colombia 4 – Japan 1 Italy 0 – Uruguay 1 Costa Rica 0- England 0 – England lowest pt total in their World Cup history (1)… Knockout Rd. – *= 1 more game (current position) Brazil Mexico Netherlands Chile Columbia Greece Costa Rica Uruguay France * Ecuador * Argentina  * Nigeria * Germany * USA * Belgium * Algeria * NBA-...
