Olympics: The Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are coming VERY SHORTLY, and I have some breaking news. Shaun White of team USA is dropping out of Slopestyle because he doesn’t want to aggravate a potential wrist injury, he will focus on winning his 3rd straight Gold which would make history in Halfpipe. I am VERY excited for Hockey, it will be VERY intense. Baseball: Braves 1B Freddie Freeman signed a MONSTER contract with the Atlanta Braves, it is worth $135 Million and for 8 years. He will average a $16.875 Million for 8 years. If he keeps up his 20+ Home Run average a season and stays healthy, the deal for the power hitter is perfect. Freeman is only 24. This is the largest contract in Braves history. Spring training is approaching us and Pitchers and Catchers will report to their Spring training locations in 2 Days! But some key free agents are still homeless, here are the top pick-ups available. Pitchers- Fernando Rodney, Bronson Arroyo, Ubaldo Jimenez, Ervin Santana and A.J Burnett. Batters- Stephen Drew and Nelson Cruz Remember, new rules say every free agent signing risks a 1st round pick only if you are out of the top 10 picks, those teams risk a 2nd rounder. Seattle Brings it Home for #1

BLOWOUT! We were looking for a low scoring close and awesome game? Someone known to win MVP? Not in this Super Bowl! Oh, and I forgot, A SAFETY ON THE 1st PLAY! This game was ALL Seattle from the start, it started off with a great stop on Broncos Up-and-Down playing Kick Returner Trinton Holiday when he got hit and almost fumbled. On the 1st play from scrimmage (and the 1st “Omaha!’s” 🙂 ) Center Manny Ramirez who had a great season launched the ball high over Peyton Manning’s head and luckily the Broncos recovered it but the Seahawks got a 2-point Safety which is very rare to happen in any game ESPECIALLY in the Super Bowl! The Broncos were forced to Punt it back because a Safety counts as 2 points for the Seahawks and the ball back. That’s when Seattle’s big O started to rumble. They managed to get 2 FG’s and led 8 zip at the end of #1. The Seahawks held the Broncos #1 Offense to 11 yards in the 1st Quarter and 0 1st downs. Manning’s gonna come back right? Nope! The Seahawks got a Marshawn Lynch 1 yd TD and he got some Skittles and then Peyton Manning threw one of his “Ducks” for a pick 6 to Malcom Smith. Time to hang it all up

3 iconic sports heroes retired in the past week. In baseball, former long time Astro slugger, Lance Berkman, Berkman won a World Series with the Cards and in that same year he won “comeback player of the year”, he’s also went to 6 all-star games! Playing for the Astros, Cardinals, Yankees and Rangers, Berkman is next to the great Mickey Mantle in switch hitter stats for batting. Berkman played all the OF positions. What a career. Here’s one that’s not as amazing, but good, Michael Young played for the Rangers, Phillies and Dodgers, he had 7 trips to the all-star game, a gold glove in ’08, all-star MVP in ’06 and batting champion in ’05. Now, he’s hanging up the spikes. In B-ball, one of ten most iconic men ever, commissioner David Stern reigned for 30 years and left the NBA in a great spot, in his time, he added 7 new teams, and 6 relocated, he was a part of the new WNBA and has been in many lockouts (that’s the only bad thing). Stadium Series Game 2: Rangers 2- Islanders 1. It was a goalie’s game last night with no goals through the 1st period and a half till both the teams scored to tie it at 1. Then the Rangers got a goal with 4:26 remaining. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 30 saves while Isles goalie Evengi Nabakov had 32. They will play on the 31st against each other.
