Heres a quick late night update on the sports world…
NFL-
Former Texans and Raiders QB Matt Shaub was signed by the Ravens for a depth position behind star QB Joe Flacco
Browns owner Ray Farmer was suspended 4 games for in-game texts to the sideline during the season…
Falcons owner Arthur Black was fined $350000 for making high volume fake fan speaker noise and taken away a 2016 5th round pick…
Top prospect Marcus Mariota announced he will NOT be taking the April/May trip to attend the NFL Draft and will stay with family in Hawaii. The Hawaii native will not travel to the new location in Chicago along with fellow projected #1 pick Jameis Winston…
Scouts who attended Jameis Winston’s FSU pro day were impressed of his talent and excellent skills but he’s got the absolute best chance of going 1st but you never know…
NCAA Men’s-
Former Dream team, St.Johns and NBA Warriors star Chris Mullin accepted the head coaching job to a St.Johns team who made the NCAA tourney this year…
MLB-
Spring training is almost coming to an end and opening day is on April 4th with Cubs Vs Cardinals in the night… The A’s have the best record in Spring Trainig right now with a 20-11 record and the Mets (yes, the mets!) are sitting with a 18-11 record in 1st of the Grapefruit League. The Mets are killing it this year amazingly leading the Grapefruit League in every offensive category!!! Yesterday they made 2 trades shipping Triple A OF Matt Den-Dekker to the Nats and Pitcher Cory Mazzoni to the Padres to receive Pitchers Jerry Blevins and Alex Torres. This was an excellent trade for the Mets getting 2 needed left handed relievers! Also I’m proud of Sandy Alderson for finally standing up for his franchise. I’m a little bummed about sending Den Dekker but I know it’s best for us and Kirk Nieuinheuis is on a roll… The Mets are also open to trading Pitcher Dillon Gee who recently joined the rotation after Zach Wheeler went down with a season ending injury…
NBA/NHL- The playoffs are approaching quickly and more and more teams are clinching and… Well, tanking. My Rangers are finishing up a nice end of the season run to make a strong push in the post season as my poor Knicks sit with the worst record in the NBA!
A big discussion in sports today is about how teams tank and should fans be encouraging teams to lose? In my opinion, you should always start a season the best you could or else it takes away a year for the loyal fans… But on the other end, if you really need a top prospect by the end of the season you should figure out how to not sell the idea of losing but make some lineup changes or something. Sabers fans for example were cheering after opposing teams goals and a loss for their team to encourage getting the next NHL great prospects with the 1st pick or so. I don’t think they should be booing their own team and they should just believe in the the team and plan like me and my fellow Knick, Mets And Jet fans…
What’s your honest opinion on the difference of tanking or strategizing?
Also feel free to comment any opinions from my other news :).
Also a quick heads up- I’m starting an all sports Instagram blog for breaking updates at @coleonsports tomorrow! A quick follow would be great and shout outs are appreciated! If easier I also run a Facebook and Twitter blog also at @coleonsports which only posts the links to when I immediately post a blog :). Thanks guys…
