deGrom Can’t Get it Done in Loss

Jacob deGrom made his 2nd Major League start yesterday for the Mets. He took a loss in his 1st game against the Bronx Bombers despite only letting up 1 run. In this game against the Dodgers, he got a little roughed up going 6 innings, striking out 4 batters and letting up 3 homers (all solo) and taking the loss. This is a start to learn from for deGrom. deGrom’s pitching has been great so far despite 2 pitching losses.  The game came down to 1 play, with 1 out in the 8th inning, the Mets walked Yasiel Puig to put runners on the corners setting up a double play. Hanley Ramirez was up for LA, he bounced one to the pitcher, Jeurys Familia, Familia turned around to throw to 2nd base but 2 Mets covered 2nd and Familia hesitated to throw, once he threw into the confusion, runners were safe at home and 1st! A disappointing mental error charged the Mets from getting the win. A 9th inning rally couldn’t do anything when David Wright surprisingly struck out to end a great hitting day. The Final score- Mets 3     Dodgers 4 On a personal note, congrats to our southern friend Alan on the 2 wins by the Dodgers… ROLL TIDE The Spurs dominated the Thunder last night winning 112-77 and completely shutting down the Thunder’s offensive...

Mets Win 5th Straight vs. NYY

Mets 9 – Yankees 7… The Mets took game 1 of the Subway Series after 2 great comebacks and awesome hitting. If the Mets are gonna keep this up, they need to do what they did last night. Only 2 of the Mets 9 runs came on a hit other than a HR. The Mets hit 4 homers vs. the Yankees last night.  Bartolo Colon pitched like himself last night with another 6 run outing but struck out 4 and walked 0. Colon’s tires and 18 win season with the A’s last year is certainly in the books but he should find a way to improve a 2-5 record. The Mets hitting went well with 14 hits. David Wright went 1-5  with a RBI groundout in the 1st inning and a run.  Eric Young Jr. had a 2 run blast, 2 runs and 3 hits in the win. Curtis Granderson went 2-5 with a 2 run homer against his former team. Lucas Duda and Travis d’Arnaud solo homered and d’Arnaud added a 2nd run. Lastly, Chris Young had a big night going 2-4 with a go- ahead 2 run blast.  For NYY, Brett Gardner went 2-5 with a Grand Salami in the 2nd. Derek Jeter went 3-4 in the loss. Yangervis Solarte had a big night going 3-4 with 2 runs and a RBI. Marcus Thornton was charged with...

In the 3 games the Mets will face (in order) – Hiroki Kuroda, Vidal Nuno and Masahiro Tanaka.  Tanaka is 4-0 on the year and the Japanese , monster money pickup by the Yankees is paying off with him throwing with a 2.53 ERA.  NYM will put out (in order)- Bartolo Colon, Zach Wheeler and Jenrry Mejia. Overall, the Mets starting pitching staff has been good, but Bartolo Colon has been lagging with a disappointing year so far. He is 2-5 with a 5.36 ERA. The bullpen has been a mess for the Mets,...

Sterling Banned For Life By Adam Silver

New Commissioner Adam Silver completed his 1st big test as the NBA commish when he suspended Clippers Owner Donald Sterling for LIFE from the Clippers organization and NBA activities.
