LETS GO RANGERS!!!

Yesterday was a great day in sports. I have a great hockey game and some news on the Bronx Bombers and the World Baseball Classic. Hockey : Yesterday the Rangers and the Isles played in a New York showdown at Nassau Coliseum. In the 1st period the Islanders scored on a Goal by Michael Grabner which made the game 1-0. The score stayed like that till the end of the 1st period. The 2nd period was scoreless also. Henrik Lundqvist the Rangers goalie was putting on a show with Isles goalie Evgeni Nakobov who replaced Rick DiPietro who was moved down to the LI Sound Tigers. This would of not been a close game if he was in goal :). The 3rd was a big period. The Rangers could not score till about 3 min left when Rick Nash tipped in a Slap shot to tie game and the game went into OT. In OT the Rangers got a quick power play on a Hooking penalty. Power plays are the Isles weakness and last night they were doing great on the penalty kill but in OT the weakness showed when they let up the game winning goal. The Rangers won!! A shout out to both goalies especially Evgeni Nakobov despite that I’m a Blueshirts fan. But still the Rangers are on a 4 game streak! Baseball : I’m sorry...

OUCH!!!

OUCH!!! The New York Yankees have been having many injury problems this spring. They are literally playing with every backup they have. Here are some notable injuries: 1: Derek Jeter – Ankle (will return soon) , 2: Mark Texiera – Wrist ( 8-10 weeks), 3: Curtis Granderson – Forearm ( All of April), Alex Rodriguez – Hip ( All-Star break), Phil Hughes – Back ( Opening day). Also half of their players are on new teams. The streaks : The Heat’s streak and the Blackhawks are still on after 1 point wins for both teams. A special Happy B-day to Shaquille “Shaq” O’neal! “Phew”

In sports right now there are 2 remarkable streaks… The Chicago Blackhawks have a 25 game goal streak and have a 20 + game win streak and the Miami Heat have a 15 game win streak. Yesterday both of these teams had very close games… Blackhawks: The Blackhawks have been having this sick streak that has lasted the whole season. Yesterday they played the Red Wings. With a little less than 3 minutes left the Red Wings led 1-0 and they hit the puck over the boards so they got a 2 minute minor penalty for delay of game. The Blackhawks got the puck to Patrick Kane and he scored to put the game in OT. No one scored in OT so they went into a penalty shootout. Patrick Kane took a shot with each team having 2 missed shots. Patrick Kane went down to the goalie and lifted his left leg twice and scored. On the Red Wings last chance they missed and the Blackhawks won 2-1. How long will this streak last? Heat: Yesterday the Heat played the Knicks. The Heat struggle most against the Knicks. The Knicks got off to a quick lead in the 1st half and were leading by a lot at half. Melo had 24 pts at half when King James had 8. The score was 59-45 Knicks at half. The second half...

“It’s March Madness Baby!”

Forget about everything else! It March Madness! I am very excited to do my bracket. Too bad Michigan hasn’t been playing well. I like Miami going to the Finals. I am excited to watch the tournament also. Right now the #1 seed is in jeopardy for a few teams such as Indiana, Duke, Michigan, Gonzaga and Miami (FL). Football – Yesterday the Jets picked up QB David Garrard from free agency. Maybe Garrard can finally replace Sanchez. Or maybe Tebow will start! Hockey : I’m finally talking about this and I’ve never. The Chicago Blackhawks are off on a 20 game win streak with a 17-0-3 record. They are first in the NHL. They never had any training camp and are playing so well! They have A LOT of all-stars on the team. ESPN’s hockey analyst Barry Melrose says the Blackhawks are the best team in sports. Yesterday the Knicks played the Warriors at the Garden. David Lee is the leader of the Warriors and he was suspended for 1 game. So Stephen Curry took that position and surprised the whole NBA. He was shooting 3’s all day!!! He had 11 3’s! 1 short of the NBA record. But his points were amazing. he scored 54 points but the Knicks won despite Curry and his show. In the past most of the best scoring efforts were at MSG. Here’s some notable scorers. 61: Kobe Bryant. 58 : Michael Jordan 54: Stephen Curry 52: LeBron James.
