Off to MetLife…

#1 Seahawks + #1 Broncos = Super Bowl 48. People (like me) always say “the 1 seeds will never make it all the way to the promise land”, this year, those people and I have to give it to those people (like my younger brother Miles), that 2 , 1 seeds made it. There was no story-book run. Just a very exciting game came out of all of this. Let’s get to the game… In the first game the New England Patriots travel to very sunny Denver where the temperature stayed around 60 degrees! Tom Brady struggled in the 1st half; they only scored 3 points. On the other hand, Peyton Manning was ripping through the Pats D who was totally dis-advantaged to Denver. Pro Bowl CB Aquib Talib who had a great season in his 1st with the Pats, was injured and did not return, Broncos WR Demarius Thomas was supposed to be matched up with him in a heated battle , but with his injury, Thomas exploded! He had a huge game. The Broncos led 13-3. The game was low scoring, Denver got a TD then 2 FG’s in the 4th while the Pats got close, but not close enough when they failed a 2 pt conversion an only scored 13. #3 and 1 downed!

Unranked Michigan played 1 loss Wisconsin who is #3 in the country in Wisconsin last night. Michigan has not won a game there in 11 years and has not won a away game vs. A top 5 opponent in a half a century! We’ll that changed last night when Michigan rallied quick and led by 5 going into half-time. Then Michigan went up as high as 15! Then Wisconsin made a come-back and rallied to bring the lead to 1 after a Ben Brust lay-up. Wisconsin may have been having a flashback to last season when Brust made an impossible half-court shot vs. Michigan in Wisconsin. That was the past and the big-blue came up the court and superstar Nik Stauskas did a crossover and dribbled backwards and hit the game sealing 3. Michigan won 77-70. Stauskas had 23 points an the GW three. That win should boost the BIG-BLUE! higher in the rankings and push the Badgers back-wards. In the Ausi (Australian Open), #1 Serena Williams was knocked out and was battling an injury that showed to her play , she was defeated by Ana Ivanoic. Ana had a awesome match. Yesterday Kevin Durant exploded for 54 points in last night’s game vs. Golden State. Durant was dishing and swishing and dunking and SCORING POINTS!!! I even wore my KD shoes and jersey before his huge performance. The Thunder won by 6. Steph Curry had 37 points. In the NFL, Seahawks WR Percy Harvin was ruled out for the NFC Championship. Remember the Henrik Lundqvist who was the all-star goalie 2 years ago? We think he’s back, Rangers goalie who will play for Sweden in the Olympics, is playing like his old self these days. Henrik had a shut-out last night vs. The Red Wings. Nobody scored in the 1st 2 periods and in the 3rd Mats Zuccarello scored the game winning goal! Wing’s goalie Jimmy Howard had a great game with 47 saves on 48 shots , Lundqvist had 38 saves. He won a star from the Rangers 3 stars of the game. NFL: the Jets gave coach Rex Ryan a contract through 2015. If the Jets build a receiving core and either make Geno Smith consistent of get a new QB. I am telling everyone this, DONT FORGET FREE AGENCY! That where they can get big proven stars. Anyone like the Browns?

The Browns are the line team left without a head coach. Yesterday the Vikings hired defensive mind Mike Zimmer. He was the Defensive Coordinator for the Bengals who were great on D in points allowed and interceptions. Minnesota on the other hand, was the opposite of that. He’s coached in college on D from 1979 to ’93. In the NFL he coached the Cowboys from ’94 to ’06 as a DC and a DB coach and won a Super Bowl. Then he was a DC with the Falcons in ’07 and Bengals DC to last season. The Vikings have the 8th pick of the draft. Now the Browns are the lone team without a coach. Who will they pick? The Patriots reported some unexpected news yesterday, backup QB Ryan Mallett was taking 1st team reps because Tom Brady was sick. Look for him to be back next practice. Tennis: wow it is hot at the Australian Open, it was 107 degrees there! We saw some big wins go to the favorites today. Probably there will be the same temp today. In the NBA we saw something very weird. The Wizards beat the Heat! The Heat lost by 17 and were down by as much as 34! Yes, the Wizards are a bad team but they did not play like it.
