In the most shocking news imaginable, Colts franchise Quarterback Andrew Luck has informed the team that he is retiring from the NFL. He’ll sacrifice $58.1M in the process. . . . Luck stated that he is “mentally worn down”, which is very believable considering the amount of wear and tear his body has gone through in his career. Luck has been one of the more injury prone players in football, and even sat out all of 2017 with a shoulder injury. We are also hearing now that Luck has been mulling this decision for a while, and plans to step away to spend time with family. . . . The 2012 No. 1 overall pick out of Stanford was phenomenal across his collegiate career, and professional tenure. He was one of the most coveted prospects in recent memory; and of course replaced the great Peyton Manning flawlessly in Indianapolis. . . . Luck was known for his bubbly personality, incredible mind on and off the field, and amazing fundamentals / mechanics. . . . Luck battled through some horrendously built Colts teams – and especially offensive lines – in his career, which prevented him from being even better than he was, and of course extending his career (for now). The farthest he went in the postseason was the infamous “Deflate-gate Game” in the AFC Championship. . . . What this current Colts could have done with Luck at the helm will go down as one of the biggest “what-if” scenarios in NFL history — if not sports. This current Colts team is unbelievably well constructed, and it’s truly unfortunate that it had to end like this. . . . Former Patriot third string QB Jacoby Brissett will take over for now, but expect a whole series of moves to follow throughout the entire league. This is going to change everything like we’ve never seen before.
