To many sports fans, there’s nothing better than a good, old-fashioned, gritty rivalry between two teams. It makes the game much more entertaining and of course, worth so much more to the players. Although, amongst all of this there is a fine-line between a tough rivalry – and a dirty, unacceptable one… Before their Monday Night Football clash, the Steelers and Bengals have had a long history of dirty hits, trash-talk and of course – great games. MNF, however saw two players receive one game bans, as well as two leaving on a backboard because of injury. Pittsburgh stud LB, Ryan Shazier was rushed to the hospital after an early collision that saw a “near paralyzation” after the hit. Very scary to say the least. Later Bengals safety George Iloka went helmet to helmet with star WR Antonio Brown, which granted a 1 game ban for Ilona. To top It all off, we saw Steelers Rookie WR, JuJu Smith Schuster lay a blind side block on arguably the dirtiest player around, Vontaze Burfict – leading to his 1 game ban, and Burfict’s exit because of injury. It’s clear to see that this game went over the point of solely player safety, but also the fine-line between tough and dirty play between teams. Additionally, we saw star Patriots TE, Rob Gronkowski, receive a 1 game ban today following his dirty, totally unnecessary cheap shot on a Bills defender following an interception on Tom Brady, this past Sunday. Check the videos out of all these situations if you haven’t yet… What’s your view on all of this? Is there a solution?
