See what happens Girardi! When you bench your good players you get knocked out of playoffs. The Yanks got crushed 8-1 to the Tigers. Yankees ace pitcher CC Sabathia got knocked out of the game after 3.2 innings. He had 6 earned runs, let up 11 hits, and had 3 k’s. Tigers pitcher Max Sherzer had 1 earned run, 10 k’s, and let up 2 hits in 5.2 strong innings. The Tigers batting really showed up last night with HR’s by Miguel Cabrera, Austin Jackson, and 2 terrific HR’s by the MVP Johnny Peralta. The only Yankee run came from a Nunez triple and a Swisher hit. A-rod and Grandy eventually came in. Everybody knew the Tigers would win after a few innings. The Yanks really played poorly while the Tigers played on their A-game. That was the first time the Yankees got swept in a best of 7 series since the 1980 KC Royals. Congrats Tigers on winning the ALCS.
Will the Yankees play like this next year?
We are big Yankee fans and are upset the way the season ended. However, the Yankees lost in the League Championship series! Only 4 teams make it that far. I know it is World Series championship or bust in Yankee land, but it is REALLY hard to win the championship and anything can happen once you make the playoffs. Usually it is the team that gets hot in the playoffs, not necessarily the team that wins the most games over the whole season that wins it all.
