Michael Sam was drafted by the St.Louis Rams in this year’s draft making history as the 1st openly gay football player. Now he has failed to survive the pre-season cuts of 74-53. He is now eligible to sign with a practice squad after being unclaimed on waivers. He had a great preseason having 3 sacks and most importantly, making the world crazy when he sacked fellow rookie and popular QB, Johnny Manziel. This perseason has been an accomplishment for Sam, now he will find a new home whether it’s serving as a backup or on the practice squad…

Also in football, Chiefs QB, Alex Smith has signed a 4 year, $68 M deal with KC. As ESPN was saying, he may not be an elite, “Top 10” QB, but he brought stability to a Chiefs offense who 3 seasons ago went 2-14 and just were plain embarrassing. Good deal for KC.

Another recent deal was Former Veteran QB for the Broncos and Cowboys, Kyle Orton signed a $5 M deal with the Bills yesterday to back up 2nd year QB, E.J Manuel. E.J is injury prone and very inconsistent so Orton may see some chances this season.  This is too much money for the career backup (most of the time) also knowing he’s pretty old compared to most QB’s…
